Karwar: Bank employees, under the aegis of Uttara Karnataka Bank Employees Association, protested in front of Syndicate Bank branch in the City, on 22nd August, Tuesday, against merger of banks and called for fulfillment of their various demands.

Supporting the strike call of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), hundreds of bank employees shouted slogans against the Centre’s move. District Principal Secretary Vasudev Shet claimed that, the Centre was privatising and merging Indian banking sector in the name of reforms, following which bank services will become expensive for common people
