Sirsi: A pal of gloom descended on Dasanakoppa, in Sirsi, following the shocking news of the death of eight persons in the road accident at Ananthwadi in Honnavar taluk reaching the village early morning on Thursday.

"We are not able to believe the death of the people who were in the wedding celebration mood on Thursday night. They were on way to Dharmastala for the weeding. But the bride and mother-in-law are dead. The incident has brought darkness in the lives of both the families," said a sobbing Anasuya Parsera Dasanakoppa, a relative of the bride groom.

Four out of eight persons died in the accident between the bus and mini bus at Ananthwadi in Honnavar taluk hailed from Dasanakoppa village. All family members of bridegroom Harish Shet had been for the wedding and the house was locked.

The entire village wore a sombre silence. Palakshi Nagaraj Shet (42), Bebi Sunil Shet (38) and Subramanya Shet of Dasanakoppa died on the spot.

Severely injured Harish Shet is admitted to the hospital in Udupi while Divya is dead.
