Shivamogga: In a collision between a car and a lorry near Ayanur on the Shivamogga-Sagar stretch of National Highway 206, six people were killed on 28th August, Monday while the lorry driver sustained injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Keshav, Karthik, Ashok, Kiran, Marimuthu and Naveen, all aged between 25-30 years. They were residents of Brahmeshwar village, Hosanagar taluk in the district.
According to the sources, the deceased were daily wagers at a stone quarry and were on their way to Shivamogga to watch a movie. The incident occurred as the car was speeding and collided witha lorry near Ayanur which was transporting liquor from Shivamogga.
It is gathered that Ashok, who was driving the car had overtaken two other cars earlier, before the car collided with the truck. The lorry driver Mahantesh is undergoing treatment at McGann hospital in Shivamogga.
A case has been registered at Kumsi police station.
