Karwar: Deputy Commissioner K Harishkumar has said that according to the Meteorological Department, the district will receive rains for the next three to four days. Hence, water will not be stored for highest-level in all the reservoirs in the district, instead, it will be released from the reservoirs in a phased manner, he added.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, he said, both Supa and Kadra reservoirs are systematic enough to store water in any capacity. However, water in small quantity will be released from them before receiving heavy rains and to balance the water storage level in the reservoirs.
As there are chances of artificial flooding due to the release of water from the reservoirs after an increase of rains, the officials concerned have been directed to balance the water storage in all the reservoirs, he added.
The deputy commissioner also informed that no river in the district is flowing in danger-level. People will be alerted before releasing water from the reservoirs. We have arrangements for shifting the people, hence, there is no need to worry, he said.
