Bhatkal: Door-to-door verification of electors will be carried out in the Bhatkal Assembly constituency from June 30 to July 29 as part of the Election Commission of India's special intensive revision of electoral rolls for 2026, Assistant Commissioner J. Mahesh said at a press conference held at the Assistant Commissioner's Office in Bhatkal on Thursday.

The special revision exercise is being conducted from June 20 to October 7. Preparatory work, training programmes and printing of materials are under way and will continue until June 29, he said.

The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, after which claims and objections can be submitted until September 4. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 7.
Mahesh said one Electoral Registration Officer, two Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and 252 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been deployed for the exercise in the constituency. Supervisors have also been appointed to oversee the work.

The constituency has a total of 2,31,778 electors and the revision process is currently in progress. Of them, 94.90 per cent have already been covered under the enumeration process, he said.
According to the figures shared at the press conference, the constituency comprises 1,41,947 male and 1,32,719 female electors. Of these, 89,831 men and 87,230 women have already been enumerated.

During the verification drive, BLOs will distribute enumeration forms to electors. Voters have been asked to fill in the forms and submit them along with the required supporting documents to the BLOs or at designated voter facilitation centres.

Mahesh appealed to the public to cooperate with officials during the house-to-house verification exercise and provide the necessary information to ensure the accuracy of the electoral rolls.
