Karwar: Karwar MLA Roopali Naik appealed Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to immediately release Rs 150 Crore funds for the construction Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospital as announced in the budget.
She recently met the chief minister in Bengaluru and submitted a memorandum in this regard. She said that a proposal had been submitted seeking nod for construction of a 400-bed hospital building in KIMS as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India (MCI). The building has to be constructed at the earliest to get recognition for the MBBS course run there and also from the public point of view. Rs 150 crore had been announced in the 2019-20 budget for construction of the new hospital. Therefore, the funds must be released without further delay, she said.
Responding to her appeal, the chief minister directed the officers to release the funds immediately, said a press release issued by the MLA’s office. The MLA also urged him to relax the financial limit imposed on the medical college and to sanction ‘C’ group and nursing posts on a priority basis.
She also said that 12-acre forest land must be sanctioned for the Siddarameshwar Tapovana in Siddara in Karwar taluk.
