Bhatkal: The Zul Hijjah crescent was sighted on Friday evening at various locations in India after Maghrib prayers, following the commencement of Zul Hijjah month.
Soon after the moon sighting, Bhatkal Qazis confirmed to it and declared Saturday as the 1st of Zul Hijjah. The announcement comes after various Ruyyat e Hilal committees (moon sighting committees) declared moon sighting at their respective regions marking commencement of Zul Hijjah month from Saturday, 3rd August.
Accordingly, the first day of Eid Al Adha will be celebrated on 12th August, Monday in India including coastal Karnataka.
