Kumta: A student drowned in the Aghanashini at Keerthigadde in Santheguli gram panchayat limits in Kumta taluk on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Abhishek of Davangere. He used to study in the Government College of Forestry at Ponnampet in Kodagu district..Abhishek along with his two friends had been to the river flowing near the Forest Department nursery at Keerthigadde for swimming. But they slipped and drowned. The forest department staff rescued two students while one drowned. Kumta police have registered a case.
