Yellapur: Nine persons including three children and three women feared killed when a lorry rammed against Xylo Multi Utility Vehicle in Arabilu ghat area in Yellapur of Uttara Kannada district today.
Quoting initial reports police said the dead, travelling in the illfated MUV, were travelling from Yellapur to coastal town of Ankola in the district travelling on National Highway No.63.
They belonged to a village near Chikkodi in neighbouring Belagavi district.
The condition of another person was serious. He has been admitted to a local hospital. Police teams rushed to the spot to take up relief work.
The dead were identified from raybhag Taluk in Belagavi District are as VaishnaviVivek Ghatage (5), Abhinav Chandrakanth Kamble(3), Varadaraj vivek ghatage(1.5), Sachin madhukar Jandenavar (28), Vivek Vasanth Ghatage(34), Renuka Chandrakanth kamble (30), Gouravva vasanth metri (58), Menaka Vivek Ghatage (28) and xylo car driver Majju Mujahid Iqbal Naykawadi (32).
The injured was Gajanan Bapu Metri.
