Bhatkal: Bibi Zulekha Ahamed Byari (50), a resident of Maqdoom Colony in Bhatkal, had went missing from Kundapur on 23rd June, and is yet to be found.
About Zulekha, it is said that she is dump and deaf. Searching for his mother, Abdur Razzak, who works in Qatar, is out on the roads, holding his mother’s picture and asking people at bus stands and railway stations in Kundapur, Udupi and Mangaluru if they have seen Zulekha. They have also put up banners in thickly populated areas.
Zulekha had boarded a Bhatkal-Mangaluru Express bus on 23rd June from Bhatkal to see her grandson at Santhosh Nagar, Hemmady. However, she did not reach her destination. Her children have now sought help to trace her, and also announced a cash prize of Rs 10,000 for those who find her and hand over to them.
Abdur Razzak said, ”Zulekha was living alone and it was the first time she was travelling by herself. Unfortunately, she could not identify Hemmady as the road is a four-lane, and got down at Shastri Circle in Kundapur. From there, Zulekha took an auto rickshaw without knowing the exact address.
Through the driver took her in the direction she showed him, she didn’t reach her destination. Frustrated, the driver forced her to get down near Saligrama bus stand.
On June 28, she was seen at Mangaluru Railway Station, where a guard served her a meal. There on we have no information about her.”
