Udupi: A 20-year-old woman was washed away at Malpe Beach on Sunday.

The police have identified the woman as Tejamma, who, along with three others, was playing in the sea when the incident occurred. The locals, however, rescued the three people.

Despite repeated warnings, the group, studying in Mysuru, ventured into sea which was rough.

A case was registered by Malpe police station and search is on.
