Bhatkal: A woman committed suicide by hanging herself to the roof here at Tattihakkl in Shirali in the taluk on Wednesday night around 9:30.

The deceased is identified as Asha Naik, aged 29.

It is said that Asha had married Rajesh Naik, a resident of Mankuli in Bhatkal, around one-and-half year ago. She hanged herself at her mother's house. The reason behind committing suicide is yet to be ascertained.

The body was shifted to Bhatkal government hospital after necessary investigation.
