Mangaluru: The Mangaluru police on Friday booked cases against 74 fish-laden mini lorries discharging foul-smelling wastewater on the roads.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashanth said that traffic police had carried out a special drive against the discharge of waste water on roads and collected a fine of Rs 7,200 from those who had violated rules.

The waste water on roads reeking of foul smell used to cause many inconveniences to the vehicle users. The city police commissioner had been receiving complaints on trucks with fish discharging waste water on the roads during the weekly phone in programme, said the DCP.
