Karwar: The second largest museum ‘Chapel warship museum’, which had lost sheen due to lack of maintenance since many years, is ultimately being repaired. The Indian Navy has recently initiated the repair work.

The wings of the lower part of the museum and the upper part had caught rust. In rainy exhibits, stairs, air conditioners of the museum were also getting damaged.

The repair work was been going on since four days and the stairs and wings are being rejoined using aluminium. The leakage will be prevented by setting right the upper layer using Glass-Reinforced Plastic Technology.

In absence of a compound wall around the museum, stray cattle used to enter the premises and eat up the plants there.

Also, this used to make way for illegal activities. Therefore, the Rabindranath Tagore Beach Conservation & Development Committee is planning to fence the premises using mesh of four feet height.
