Karwar: IPS officer Vartika Katiyar has been appointed as Superintendent of Police of Uttara Kannada district. The State government issued an order in this regard on Wednesday. 

Vartika, a 2010-batch IPS officer was serving as Superintendent of Police of State Crime Records Bureau in Bengaluru. She is the first woman Superintendent of Police of Uttara Kannada district. 

Superintendent of Police Shivaprakash Devaraju has been transferred. However, he has not been informed about his new place of posting. Shivaprakash handled the Covid crisis successfully and played a vital role in checking the Covid cases in the district.
