Karwar: Uttara Kannada district recorded 76 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday including 22 cases in Kumta and 19 in Honnavar taluks.
As per the Health Department Bulletin, nine cases are from Bhatkal taluk, six from Haliyal, five each from Sirsi and Karwar taluks, four each from Ankola and Mundgod taluks and one each from Siddapur and Yellapur taluks.
Of the new cases, 13 cases are those who have come in contact with earlier patients. Another 13 people have travelled to other States or cities. Three had returned from foreign countries. However, source of infection of 45 people is still being traced. Two patients had symptoms of ILI (fever).
Max cases in Bhatkal
Until now, Uttara Kannada district has recorded 901 cases and 569 are still active. 322 people have recovered and 10 have died.
Taluk-wise, Bhatkal taluk has recorded the maximum number of cases and even deaths. Until now, it has recorded 265 cases and four deaths with 141 cases being active. This is followed by Haliyal (124 cases), Kumta (117 cases), Sirsi (81 cases) and Honnavar (80 cases). Currently, Haliyal (94 active cases) and Kumta (91 active cases) are next to Bhatkal in terms of active cases. Joida has recorded the least number of cases (six cases).
