Uttara Kannada Congress protests against arrest of DK Shivkumar in Sirsi

Sirsi: Uttara Kannada District Congress workers staged protest in Sirsi agains the arrest of the Congress leader and former Minister D K Shivkumar by the Enforcement Directorate.

Congress workers gathered at old KSRTC bus stand circle in the town and chanted slogans against state and central BJP government and also against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Blocking the road by sitting on Dharna, they burnt the tyres and expressed their anger.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhimmana Nayak, President of District Congress Committee, said, DK Shivkumar has been arrested even after he fully co-operated with ED officials during the scrutiny of the documents. Actually, BJP is trying to hinder the power of Congress by arresting party leaders. BJP is trying to scare the state Congress leaders through the ED officials. The dream of BJP's 'Congress-free' will never be going to fulfill, he added.

The protest was accompanied by leaders from all over the district including Santosh Naik, Vittal Naik from Bhatkal, Ex Kumta MLA Sharada Shetty, Rajesh Naik, Govind Naik, Jagdeep Tengeri and others were present.
