Puttur: Theft reported at ex-serviceman's house in Uppinangady

Puttur: A theft was reported at the Uppinangady police station limits in the taluk, stating that gold ornaments weighing over 45 sovereigns have been stolen from the house of an Ex-serviceman Suresh K on 15th July, Saturday.

The former defence officer Suresh is currently an entrepreneur and is settled in Karaya village. He runs a paints-cum-hardware shop by name Gajanana Store at Uppinangady.

It is learned that Suresh had brought all ornaments and valuables stored in bank locker home due to some function few days ago. The family had been to sleep late midnight as Suresh’s son had a mild fever and when they woke up, both the front and rear doors of the house were wide open.

Soon they realized that they were looted, as the thieves had opened different cupboards and took away a number of gold ornaments and a cellphone valued at Rs. 10,000.

Since, no signs of force were found on the doors or the cupboards, it is suspected that the thief had entered the home before nightfall, hid himself somewhere and stole valuables after the family went to sleep.

A case has been registered at the Uppinangady police station and investigations are in progress.
