Udupi: Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials on Tuesday night arrested an unauthorised ticketing agent in Udupi railway station and seized three tickets booked by him on Tuesday night.
The arrested youth was identified as Thimma of Udupi. Officials from the Konkan Railway advised the public not to buy tickets from such unauthorised agents as they use bogus identity cards to book tickets and sell them at exorbitant rates.
The team led by Railway Protection Force (RPF) Sub Inspector, Udupi, Santhosh Gaonkar, conducted the raid on Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter and detained Thimma who had booked the tatkal ticket with the intention to sell it for a higher price at around 10 pm.
Three tickets of train number 12509 (Bengaluru- Guwahati Guwahati Express train) in AC and sleeper coach worth Rs 5825 were seized from Thimma. He was later ordered to pay a penalty of Rs 15,000 by the Udupi court on Wednesday.
