Udupi: A medical practitioner became a victim of online fraud and lost Rs 67,650 in the name of Mudra loan in Shirva in the district.

The victim is Dr Krishnamurthy, who was arranging money for his son's education. He received a message on his phone on the loan facility. Accordingly, he was made to register his name on a fake Mudra loan website. Later, he received calls from mobile numbers 9813024637 and 9871668167 and promised of Rs 25 lakh Mudra loan.

The doctor was asked to upload all the documents online. Later, they demanded processing charge of Rs 67,650, which he paid. However, Krishnamurthy realised that he was cheated and filed a complaint with CEN station in Udupi.
