Udupi: In the wake of a tragic accident, one person was killed after a tempo rammed into an stationary truck on 19th August, Saturday at National Highway near Yermal in the district. Three others sustained injuries.
The deceased was identified as Madhav Laxman Karali (40 yrs), a native of Maharashtra.
According to sources, the tempo carrying fish was travelling to Malpe from Mangaluru. But, as the driver lost control, the tempo collided with the truck which was parked beside the highway. The impact of the accident was such that the truck moved forward and hit another truck which was parked in front of it.
Madhav was standing close to the truck and got crushed between the two trucks and died on the spot. Two other truck drivers who were at the spot sustained injuries and the driver of the tempo was also grievously injured.
They were immediately admitted into a hospital in Udupi by locals who rushed to the spot.
A case has been registered at Padubidri poice station.
