Udupi: Two accused were arrested by the Excise department officials for supplying liquor llegally through a Maruti Omni on 22nd July, Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm in a raid near Belameny in the taluk.
The accused are identified as Gresham (24) of Karkala and Suresh Shet (28) from Karussey.
According to the sources, 77.750 liters of wine along with 125.040 liters of Beer and an Omni car were seized by the police while arresting the accused. The seized liquor has estimated the value of worth Rs. 3,28,000.
It has been gathered that these two accused used to acquire liquor illegally and then sell them out to the public. When they were out for selling the liquor as usual, a raid was conducted by the police and all the liquor was seized and the duo was arrested on Saturday.
A case has been registered and investigations are being conducted.
Under the order of Mangaluru Excise Joint Commissioner Shailaja Kote and Udupi zonal excise Deputy Commissioner Roopa M’s guidance, excise inspector Nityanand, excise staff Manaf Saheb along with other staff and driver conducted the raid.
