Udupi: A 62-year-old farmer died after falling from a coconut tree in Byrampalli village near Hiriyadka on Saturday.

The farmer was identified as Vasudeva Golla. He had gone out from his house to his coconut plantation in order to pluck coconuts. He missed his footing while climbing and fell from the tree.

He was taken to the government hospital in Ajjarakadu, where doctors declared him brought 
dead.

Hiriyadka police have initiated an enquiry on the nature of death and have registered a case under CrPc Section 174.
