Sirsi: In a farce that took place in Sirsi Tahsildar’s office on Friday, an officer walked into the tahsildar’s office and asked the acting tahsildar to hand over the charge to her.
Tahsildar M R Kulkarni was working in his office as usual on Friday. At 10:30 am, Geeta C G of Chikkamagaluru walked into the tahsildar’s chamber located in the Mini Vidhan Soudha and asked Kulkarni to hand over the charge to her. This created disturbance among the staff of the office for some time.
Speaking to media persons, Geeta said that she was transferred to Sirsi on January 4. The acting tahsildar had got a stay from Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT). An enquiry was held at KAT and order in her favour was passed. Though a second order transferring her to Siddapur was issued, the first order would stand good.
When asked how she could take charge without the official order copy, Geeta said that the order will be received within two days.
She said that she would take charge by signing in the Charge Transfer Certificate (CTC) as the tahsildar was officially not handing over the charge. She then sat in the office for some time and then spent some more time in the assistant commissioner’s office.
When M R Kulkarni was questioned about it, he said that Geeta was earlier transferred to Sirsi. But as per the transfer list issued by the government a week back, she was transferred to Siddapur. He said that he will speak about the issue to the deputy commissioner.
Such an incident in the home district of Revenue Minister R V Deshpande has been surprising.
