Bhatkal: The city police have arrested two of the three accused, who had been stealing batteries from parked truck lorries in town since couple of days.
The two accuseds were identified as Zakrullah Nazir Ahmed Khan, working as a Mechanic in Shimoga and Haroon Rashid Mohammed Ibrahim, professionally a Driver. Also, the search for another accused is on.
On May7, the accused had come to Bhatkal from Shimoga in a Maruti car. On May8, they stole the battrey from a Jali cross in the town. Similarly, they had also stolen batteries of lorries parked in other places, including Purvarga and Shirali. At the time of questioning, they said that they stole as they needed money.
The theft came to light when they were arrested after they were moving around in a suspicious manner near Gurusudhindra College on Sagar road here on Friday night and interrogated.
The police recovered batteries worth Rs. 10000 from them and the car used for stealing.
