Kumta: A truck was reduced to ashes accidentally after it came into an influence of fire that erupted from its engine here at Devimane ghat on Kumta-Sirsi state highway in the taluk.

The cement-laden truck, heading towards Bhatkal from Ballari caught fire due to technical issues. Fortunately, the driver Subhan Sayyed and Cleaner Salim Ali had a lucky escape from the incident.

Loss of more than ten lakhs of rupees has been estimated in the incident.

As the information was alerted, the fire brigade team rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire from further spreading.

A case has been registered in Kumta police station.
