Bhatkal: Two youth have been seriously injured when they crashed each other while swimming in Shirali river in Bhatkal taluk on Thursday afternoon.
The injured have been identified as Muhiddin Marwan Muniri (19) and Shaeeb Shabbir Shaikh (20).
A couple of friends went for swimming at the Shirali river including Marwan who was heading out of the water when Shaeeb jumped from the cliff above and crashed into Marwan.
Both started to drown in the river soon after the collision, but other friends who were present on the spot removed both the injured youth and shifted to Bhatkal Govt hospital immediately.
The bone near Marwan's eye is said to be fractured and blood has been blocked in a nerve. Talking on phone with SahilOnline, Maulavi Khaleelur Rahman Muniri, father of Marwan informed that Marwan has been admitted in ICU at Udupi private hospital, but he was now conscious. The condition of Shaeeb is said to be very critical as his backbone has been fractured due to which his lower half has been left immobilized.
Imtiyaz, friend of Shaeeb who was present in the Udupi hospital told SahilOnline over phone that the condition of Shaeeb has been worsened and now he has been shifted to Mangalore. He also informed that Shaeeb is from a very poor family. He requested Bhatkali Jamatul Muslimeen Mangalore for medical help of Shaeeb.
