Joida: Power supply to as many as seven villages in Savant Matkarni area coming under Anshi gram panchayat limits in Joida taluk was disrupted a month back and since then, these villages are in total darkness.
These villages including Savant Matkarni, Katte, Kadpod, Madumale, Nagarali, Maingini and Thigurgali were electrified under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana in January this year. However, power to these villages has been supplied for just two to three days in April, May and June months.
Though the students of Anshi Government High School and Higher Primary School coming from these villages have urged the Hescom officials to supply power to their villages but to no avail.
“In case, power supply to these villages is not reinstated by this weekend, we would stage a protest before Hescom office,” warned Sudhakar Deevali, Vishnu Deevali, Babu Mirashi, Rohidas Gawadm Ghanshyam Velip, Anant Sawant, Govind Velip and other localites.
“There is no power supply here ever since our academic year commenced. As a result, we are unable to do our homework. Hescom must understand our plight and take all measures to ensure power supply,” appealed students Nitesh, Ram, Rakshita, Ghanshyam and Archana.
Speaking about the issue, Hescom Joida area Assistant Executive Engineer Purushottam Malya said that he had just assumed charge and was not aware of the problem. Hescom staff will be sent to the villages affected to review the situation and address the problem.
