Bhatkal: Taluka high school Physical Education(PE) Teachers Association, Uttar Kannada Zilla panchayat education department and Bhatkal taluk BEO office jointly organized the Taluka level sports meet 2017-18 at Belke High school on 12th September, Tuesday.
The chief guest of the athletic meet, Zilla Panchayat president Jayashree Moger inaugurated the sports meet by hoisting the Olympic flag.
After inaugurating the event, Jayashree expressed that sports inculcate team spirit, leadership skills, strategic thinking and a risk-taking attitude and bring about proper synchronization of both mind and body and yields to a better personality. “Sports teach us to achieve our goal”, she added.
She further said that just like the PE teachers association, other organizations must also come forward to organize such events. At the beginning of the programme, the Olympic torch was brought and handed over to Jayashree following which the students performed march past and saluted the flag.
During the meet, Muhammed Rayyan, who had participated in National level Pole Vault was felicitated along with his physical education teacher prof. Abdur Razzak of Anjuman Boys High School.
BEO Patgar welcomed the gathering, all the participants took the oath and Prakash Shirali compered the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by Gopal Naik.
More than 200 students of four zones i.e Bhatkal, Shirali, Belke and Murdeshwar were present and participated in the sports meet.
