Sullia: Less than a week after a tragic accident while returning from Velankanni wiped the lives of seven persons of a family from Kasargod. But this time, another family from Kundapur, met with an accident while they were returning from the same pilgrimage centre.

Luckily, the family, including a child, escaped with multiple injuries.

The accident took place at Kanakamajalu here when their tempo traveller went out of control and went on hitting a roadside retaining wall.

The injured have been identified as Archie Carvalho (51), Anita Dias (28), Francis Assisi, Savian (02), Antony D'Almeida (52), Antony Sandesh, Sathish, Alice Rita, and Jacob D'Souza.

All of them have been admitted to hospital in Mangaluru and are said to be out of danger.

Francis and Anitha got married just about two weeks ago, sources said. Sandesh and his wife Treza live in Saudi Arabia and had come to their hometown just a few days ago to attend the wedding. Savian (02) is their child.

Soon after the accident, locals gathered at the spot and helped in rescuing the injured and shifting them to hospital.

Sullia police have registered a case and further investigations are carried on.
