Karwar: Deputy Commissioner K Harishkumar has directed the Karnataka Urban Water Supply & Drainage Board officials to submit a comprehensive project report for the supply of drinking water to Seabird Naval Base project from the Kadra reservoir.
He noted this while addressing the higher-level officials during a meeting called for an emergency implementation of issues discussed during the State-level co-ordination committee meeting held in the chairmanship of chief secretary in Bengaluru.
He said, the pipeline installation works for the supply of water from the Gangavali river to the Seabird project has already delayed. There is also a possibility of water-related problems after the Gangavali river, which is at a distance of 42 kilometres from the naval base and 30-kilometre from the Kadra reservoir dries up. Hence, it would be appropriate to supply water from the Kadra reservoir, he opined.
The deputy commissioner directed the officials concerned to take up a survey in this regard and submit a comprehensive report at the earliest. He also said that the measures will be taken for the early completion of vented barrage works across the river Gangavali.
Power sub-station
He also said, approval has been given for the set up of 220 kV capacity power substation in the premises of Konkan Railways at Sirwad and the works will be started soon. Hence, the Hescom officials must initiate proper measures for the smooth conduct of works.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Nagaraj Singrer, Seabird Project Implementation Deputy Director Captain Kiran Reddy, Karwar Deputy Conservator of Police Vasanth Reddy, Assistant Commissioner Abhijin, Tahsildars, port and other department officials were present on the occasion.
