Stray dog attack continuous in Bhatkal, one more seriously injured

Bhatkal: The menace of stray dogs continuous in Bhatkal as a fresh case of attacking a senior man reported at an old bus stand here on Friday early morning. The injured, identified as Durgappa Naik (67), hailing from Mundalli in Bhatkal was shifted to Mangalore after giving initial treatment at Bhatkal Govt hospital.

Durgappa was sleeping outside a shop near the old bus stand when a stray dog attacked him and bite his nose and face.

It is said that Durgappa used to sleep outside the shops near the old bus stand every night. Even on Thursday night, he slept there as usual when the incident happened.

It can be recalled that a few days back, an old woman succumbed to her injuries in Mangalore hospital after she was attacked by a rabid dog at Mundalli village in Bhatkal. Three others were also seriously injured on the same day.
