‘284 oxygen beds, 1,888 separate beds for Covid patients arranged’
Karwar: If the third wave of Covid-19 hits the district, all precautionary measures have been initiated to tackle it and measures have also been initiated to check the shortage of oxygen required for the treatment of Covid patients, said Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar.
He was speaking after hoisting the tricolour flag as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations held at the police parade ground in Karwar on Sunday.
He said, a total of 284 oxygen beds and 1,888 separate beds for Covid patients have been arranged in the district. Besides, 104 ventilators, 155 ICU beds and 52 special ICU beds for children have also been kept ready, he informed.
He said, medical kits have been given to 2,185 children who are suffering from malnutrition. Special care has been given to 184 children who are suffering from severe malnutrition, he added.
He said, so far, 5.52 lakh people in the district have got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and 1.95 lakh people have obtained the second dose. The district secured the ‘A’ grade in the SSLC exams which were conducted amidst the challenges of the pandemic. The district administration handled the natural disaster appropriately. A day after taking charge, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai visited the district for inspecting the loss caused by floods and rains and also announced Rs 210 crore for the district, he informed.
MLA Roopali Naik, Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan, Superintendent of Police Shivaprakash Devaraju, ZP CEO Priyanga and others were present.
