Mundgod: SSLC student Shashank Ravi Naik (16) of Kyadagikoppa village drowned in Dharma reservoir in Malgi in Mundgod taluk on Monday.

Shashank along with two of his friends had entered the reservoir for swimming on Sunday evening. However, Shashank drowned and afraid of it, the two others ran away leaving their clothes and mobiles on the bank itself. 

The body of fished out after the local people got to know of the incident and began looking out for the body. Shashank was academically bright and had scored 80% marks in SSLC exams, the results of which were announced recently. His parents and relatives were in total shock and were emotional when the body was fished out. However, the boy’s father has lodged a complaint with the police suspecting some foul play as his friends had not informed though Shashank had drowned.
