Yellapur: Mr Abdur Rahman Hassan Beary, who was a well-known personality of Yellapur and owner of famous Mumtaz hotel, passed away on 23 June, Sunday morning at his residence in Yellapur due to cardiac arrest. He was 67 years of age.

Abdur Rahman was a founder member of North Kanara Muslim United Forum. He was also a president of Millat Education Organization, and presently was an active member of Siddiqia welfare Sangh.

He was a sincere person who kept himself engaged with social activities helping the needy people. On his demise, an atmosphere of sadness and silence spread in Yellapur and people in hundreds started gathering at his residence.

The final rites were conducted after Maghrib prayers at a nearby Muslim graveyard in the town.

On his sad demise, President of North Kanara Muslim United Forum Imtiyaz Shaikh, general secretary Muhammad Mohsin Qazi, President of Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem SM Parvez, general secretary MJ Abdur Raqeeb, members Dr Haneef Shabab, Syed Mohiddin Barmavar, and Yahya Damudi have expressed their deep condolence.
