Six dead, 238 test positive for Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada district

Mangaluru: Six fatalities were confirmed as Covid-19 deaths and a record number of 238 patients tested positive for Coronavirus on
Thursday.

A 27 year-old male constable, 23 year-old woman constable attached to the Puttur town police station, a police vehicle driver attached to Puttur woman police station and a woman employee in Puttur Range Forest Office (RFO), were among those who had tested positive to Covid-19.

All the police personnel were shifted to the Covid Care Centre in Subrahmanya, sources told DH.

So far, as many as 67 police personnel in Dakshina Kannada district had tested positive to Covid-19.

As many as 106 patients with symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) had tested positive to Covid-19.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, in a press release, stated said 23 among the total Covid-19 positive cases were primary contacts of the already infected patients. 17 patients with symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) had tested positive.

While 19 persons with international travel history had tested positive. The contacts of 73 patients who tested positive to Covid-19 are being tracked down.

At least 1,537 persons were undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the district. 74 infected persons had recovered and discharged from various hospitals. A total of 1,163 patients had already recovered in the district.
