Sirsi: Speaker unhappy with style of functioning of officials

Sirsi : Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri expressed unhappiness against the officials concerned for their negligence towards the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Sirsi taluk.

Speaking at a meeting held in Sirsi on Friday to discuss the implementation of various works under Jal Jeevan Mission in the taluk, he said, the State government has approved 43 works worth Rs 33.92 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Of these, only one work has been completed so far, and 16 works are yet to be launched.

The slow pace of works indicates the lack of dedication among the officials in implementing them, he expressed displeasure.

He said, there is an aim of providing tap connection to 7,500 houses in the taluk. The Centre, State, and gram panchayats would contribute 90% of funds for the work, while 10% of funds should be collected from the public. For this, the members of local administrative bodies should convenience people, he instructed.

In the meeting, the members of various gram panchayats put forth the problems in the implementation of the mission. Some members asked the officials to clarify their doubts related to the rules of the mission. 

Assistant Director of Horticulture B P Satish, Taluk Panchayat executive officer F G Chennannavar, Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Department AEE Praveen, and others were present.
