Sirsi: In a strange incident, police have slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 on a car driver for triple riding.

Pradeep Naik of Nilekani has received a notice from the Urban Police authorities asking him to pay the fine for violating traffic rules through triple-riding.

Surprisingly, the vehicle number mentioned in the notice is of a car and the fine is for traffic rule violation by a two-wheeler.

‘Unscientific checking’

“The notice shows how unscientific the police checking is. The rule meant for a bike rider is being applied to a car rider. Along with motivating people to follow the traffic rules, police must ensure that they too carry out their duty honestly,” Naik said.
