Sirsi: A youth from Badangod in Sirsi taluk murdered his grandmother on Tuesday late night in the belief of getting some treasure. Yallavva Gollar (75) is the woman who lost her life.

Accused Ramesh Gollar believed that he had ‘close connection with God’. During police enquiry, the accused said that Huligemma (God) spoke to him in his dream and told him that he would get a treasure if he beheaded a person and so, he murdered her.

Ramesh, who was absconding, was caught by the villagers and handed over to the police. Even in November 2016, Ramesh had murdered a boy who was fishing in the Dharma reservoir at Malgi. Even then, Ramesh had said that God had asked him for a human sacrifice and so, he had murdered the boy.

He was in jail on charges of murder and was recently released on bail.

SP Vinayak Patil said that the villagers thrashed him and handed him to the police. The villagers had also appealed the police to ensure that the accused did not get bail as there were chances of him committing such crime again if he was set free.
