Sirsi: Loss of over lakhs of rupees was estimated after a grass-laden truck caught fire, gutting grass along with a truck here at Bapanhalli village in Sirsi taluk on Sunday.
The truck was owned by Pashupati Dattatreya Hegde of Bapanhalli village. Sources said that incident happened when the grass loaded in the truck came in contact with an electric wire, causing flame to erupt. The fire brigade personnel were immediately informed about the incident, who rushed to the spot and were successful in extinguishing the fire from further spreading.
Reports said that goods of around 1.5 lakh rupees were gutted in the mishap.
