Bhatkal: Taufiq Byari, the district President of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), during a press conference here, accused Sirsi Circle Police Inspector Girish Bhat terming him as a biased officer with regard to SDPI.

He was addressing a press conference here at SDPI office in Bhatkal with regard to the alleged abusing and beating up of Musannif in Sirsi Police station recently. He said that when Musannif approached Sirsi police station to submit his friend's vehicle insurance, Circle Inspector Girish asked his phone and later took in his cabin and asked, "Are you still connected to SDPI? Do you think I will allow SDPI activities to continue in Sirsi?". Then two policemen have beaten Musannif together. Then, after taking him to Newmarket police station and keeping him there till evening, a case was registered against him under section 110.

Taufiq Byari further said that Musannif was ill for the past few years. Now, the brutality of the police has worsened his health even more, and he has been hospitalized in Mangaluru for treatments. Hence, he demanded that the CPI should be suspended immediately and legal action should be taken against him.

In the press conference, SDPI Bhatkal assembly President Waseem and SDPI member Jalaluddin were present.
