Two killed in tempo-bike collision on Shirali NH-66

Bhatkal: Two persons plying in a bike were killed instantly on the spot when they were hit by a speeding tempo approaching from the opposite direction. The incident happened in the early hours of 7th August, Monday here at Mavinkatte NH-66 near Shirali of Bhatkal taluk.

The deceased bike riders have been identified as Manjunath Basavangauda (24) and Kallappa (30), both residents of Kalghatagi in Dharwad district.

It was studied that the incident happened when the bike was on the way towards Kalghatagi from Udupi, while tempo was in the opposite direction. Both lost control over the vehicles and went on hitting each other. The impact of collision made the front wheel of the bike get separated from it. Police rushed to spot soon after the incident and conducted the necessary investigations.

In this regard, a case has been registered in the Murdeshwar police station and investigations are on.
