Security arrangements in Uttara Kannada will continue for 15 days: DC Harish Kumar

Karwar: Following the Supreme court's verdict on Ayodhya land dispute, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada, Dr Harish Kumar, issued a press release stating that to avoid any untoward incident and to maintain law and order in the district, all steps will be initiated.

DC informed that currently, there has been a ban on bursting of crackers and also on selling liquor products. Strict security measures have been taken to prevent any kind of untoward incidents for another 15 days in the district. He said that it has been advised with all the Assistant Commissioners and Tahsildars, to take precautions in maintaining law and order. Also, they have been instructed to keep an eye on the situation for the next fifteen days.

Deputy Commissioner said this is a great opportunity to promote brotherhood and peace in the district. Therefore, the officers have been instructed to give permissions to perform religious events and festivities in the district.

On this occasion, District Superintendent of Police Shivprakash Devaraju, said, apart from firecrackers and alcohol, the use of DJs has also been completely banned. He said that in the next 15 days, if anybody has to organize an event, they need to get permission in advance. Also, social media platforms are being monitored thoroughly. If anyone posts objectionable content, such a person will be arrested without a warrant.
