SDPI submit memorandum to Uttara Kannada SP demanding action against Sirsi police officers

Karwar: Accusing Sirsi Circle Police Inspector and team of allegedly abusing and beating SDPI activist, the members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) Uttara Kannada unit submitted a memorandum to Superintendent of Police (SP) here at Karwar on Saturday, demanding strict action.

The memorandum stated that, on October 15, the SDPI activist Musannif had approached Sirsi police station to submit a copy of his friend's vehicle insurance in connection with an accident. But for no genuine reason, the Circle Inspector abused and have beaten him up. He was later threatened by questioning about being active in the SDPI. In the memorandum they accused that the police officer violated the basic rights according the country's constitution. "Joining the political parties is the freedom and right of every citizen of this country. But the concerned police officer assaulted him and violated human rights", they added.

In the memorandum, they demanded justice for the victim who was abused and beaten up by the police personnel. They also demanded to launch investigation against the police personnel who were involved in assaulting the youth.

While submitting the memorandum, SDPI Uttara Kannada President Taufiq Byari and others were present.
