Mangaluru:  Ilyas Mohammed Thumbe, State president of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), filed his nomination papers as SDPI candidate for the Lok Sabha elections from Dakshina Kannada on Monday.

SDPI workers took out a procession from the Hampankatta Junction to the office of the Deputy Commissioner before filing the nomination papers.

Another candidate Maxim Pinto filed his nomination papers as an Independent from Dakshina Kannada constituency on Monday.

Tuesday is the last day to file nomination papers. Scrutiny will be held on March 27. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is March 29.
