Bhatkal: Strongly opposing the Central Government-approved Citizenship Amendment Bill, the members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) Bhatkal unit protested in front of the Tahsildar office on Thursday in Bhatkal
Addressing the protest, SDPI Uttara Kannada district President Taufiq Byari said that the relevant bill is based on discrimination. He said that the bill has insulted the values of a secular country, the central government immediately needs to withdraw this bill, else massive protests shall be launched by Muslims against the bill issued.
The protesters then burned the bill to express their anger. There were also various placards displayed against the bill.
On this occasion, SDPI Bhatkal President Waseem Maneger, Zamaan, Saddam and others were present.
The police security was deployed at the protest site to avoid any untoward incident.
