Bhatkal: Of the 174 passengers who arrived in Mangaluru from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) last week on July 18, 75 passengers belonged to Uttara Kannada district, who reached Bhatkal on Saturday morning. They had landed at Mangaluru International Airport on a special chartered flight hired by Bhatkal Muslim Jamaat Eastern Province in Saudi Arabia.
Upon their arrival, all the passengers were quarantined for the first seven days in Mangaluru, but as they belong to Uttara Kannada district, their COVID test were not taken there, but was conducted later when they reached Bhatkal. However, everyone tested negative.
They will now undergo seven days of institutional quarantine, after which they will be allowed to go homes.
It shall be recalled that all the passengers of Bhatkal and Uttara Kannada district were welcomed by Bhatkali Jamaatul Muslimeen, Mangaluru, where they had arranged quarantine facilities for first seven days in Mangaluru itself.
