RT-PCR negative report mandatory for rail passengers from Kerala, Maharashtra

Udupi:The district administration has made RT-PCR negative certificate mandatory for those arriving from Kerala and Maharashtra via train to Udupi. Nodal officers have been appointed at the railway stations to check on the passengers.

To check on those arriving via road, check posts have been set up in the district. To check the validity of the negative certificates, officials have been deployed. The passengers should furnish negative certificate compulsorily. The nodal officers in various railway stations in the district are -- Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty (Udupi railway station - 98454 32303) and PU department sports coordinator Dinesh will be the supervisor (98861 13207). While, for Baindoor Mookambika railway station Prabhakar, taluk sports officer (79751 85766) will be the nodal officer.

Those who fail to get the negative certificate will have to undergo Rapid Antigen test compulsorily at the railway station, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said. The DC said that to check the spread of Covid-19 in the community, the testing rate has been increased in the district. A total of 6,909 samples were tested on Thursday. The district has conducted tests on 8,42,560 samples, so far and 71,472 persons have been tested positive till date.
