Kumta: MLA Dinakar Shetty has said that during the recent rains and floods, a total of 3,042 houses were inundated in the taluk and compensation of Rs 1,16 crore was deposited to the accounts of affected families through the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Each family has got Rs 3,800.
Apart from this, Rs 32.63 lakh has been deposited to 57 families, whose houses were damaged due to heavy rainfall, he informed.
Furnishing the details of compensation at Tahsildar’s office in the town on Friday, Shetty said, owners of 272 houses have not yet submitted the details of their Aadhar cards, ration cards, and bank accounts. Except this, Rs 6,200 compensation would be given to all those people, whose houses suffered losses due to the gushing of rainwater, he added.
To the partial and completely damaged houses, Rs 95,100 is being given in the first phase and Rs 5,200 is being given to the houses which suffered minimum damage. Following the new order of the chief minister, Rs five lakh compensation would be given to completely damaged houses and Rs three lakh to partially damaged houses, he informed.
He said, the Revenue Department officials have given a compensation of Rs 95,100 to one Tulasu Gouda of Santagal in Santeguli gram panchayat limits within a day after his house was damaged due to heavy rains.
Without expecting the beneficiaries to submit applications seeking compensation, the officials lent a helping hand to them on humanitarian grounds, he added.
The teams of village accountants, revenue inspectors, and panchayat development officers have conducted surveys on their own and helped the affected people get the compensation, he said.
