Honnavar: Burglars broke into a temple at Sankolli Arasa Muttada village in Haladipur, Honnavar taluk of Uttara Kannada district and made away with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 3.35 lakh recently.
The burglars who entered the temple by breaking open its main entrance lock walked away with 6.5 kg silver which was fixed to the frame of the door, 1.5 kg silver ‘Prabhavali’ and gold ‘eyes, nose, ears, eyebrows, lips’ attached to the statue of the deity, a necklace which adorned the statue, mangalsutra of the deity, all weighing 36 gram.
Cash also stolen
Along with it, Rs 7,000 cash kept in the Archak’s box was also taken.
CPI Cheluvaraju said that they have launched manhunt for tracing the burglars and they had already got clues.
